YVES SAINT LAURENT MUSEUM, MARRAKECH

The Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakech was a very special project of cross-culture collaboration with an international consultant team, with impressive architecture (subtle details, quality of materials ...)
This private museum is considered as the most important cultural facility which opened in 2017 in Africa.

For this high-quality architecture, lighting design had to emphasize the volume and the texture besides being as discreet as possible. The balance between the function and beautification was the key. I.C.O.N. achived this challenge through close collaboration with the consultants team and carefully selected materials; for example integrate compact lighting fixtures in small architectural details, choose some highly functional and flexible fixtures for individual adjustments, find the best light source to sublime the fabrics or material etc.
The courtyard, visible from the street even at night, was considered as a “hidden face” of the museum. We managed to add originality by realizing a moonlight effect in order to bring a special and oriental emotion.
4 lighting scenarios were preset for the major indoor public spaces, in order to optimize the energy consumption in the space, but also to adapt lighting to the human biorhythm, and to divers event taking place inside the museum.
