HERMES IN THE MAKING, ITINERANT INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

This Hermès’ exhibition promotes the work of its craftsmen on different materials: leather, silk, metals, porcelain etc. and their a sustainable spirit. The experts from a decade of different workshops of the brand bring their tools, materials and expert gestures to explain how these objects are handcrafted. Their work reflects some of the preoccupations of the era: preserving and passing on know-how, the quest for quality, durability, innovation, and respect for the environment. It offers a journey made up of demonstrations of craftsmanship, movies, workshops, and events, in order to popularize their brand to the general public.

After the first edition, which took place in Copenhagen and welcomed more than 45,000 visitors, the exhibition was exported around the world, to Turin, Detroit, Singapore, Kyoto... Recreating it each time in an emblematic venue, its scenography and lighting need to be adapted while retaining the initial concept. The spirit being that of a workshop and craftsmanship, pendant lamps diffuse daylight-like lighting to create a retro-industrial atmosphere and punctual spotlights in warm white enhance the value of products. At each country, the lighting equipment’s have to be reviewed and their setting has to be adapted to shine up and magnify the products and scenography etc ; while preserving the visual comfort of craftsmen and visitors.
