EXHIBITION "FRANCE 1500 - ENTRE MOYEN-AGE ET RENAISSANCE"

As the subheading “between Middle-Ages and Renaissance” states, this large exhibition was themed on the 1500s, which was a historical transitional period in France’s art history, and the mission of lighting this exhibition fell to me. The artworks brought together by the exhibition were entirely made up of important cultural properties such as manuscripts, paintings, furniture, and sculptures, and so the security and tension that was present during preparation was immense.

For every article, there were limitations placed on the allowable intensity of display lighting for the purpose of preservation. If my lighting exceeded 50 lux by any tiny amount, a preservation officer with luxmeter in hand would be chasing after me. Nevertheless, I attempted to design light to reproduce a place with the tranquility of inside a medieval hall, and at the opening, I received the comment: “I am very pleased with how the lighting gives a prettier effect than regular exhibitions.” And I was thanked by the related parties that loaned the works.
