Located at the mouth of the Red Sea on the east coast of Africa, the small country of Djibouti is in an important location militarily and transport-wise, and currently it has an international military presence. Amid calls to realize a hotel of international status, the job of construction fell to a Japanese company. Through an old acquaintance in Dubai, we were called to help with the schematic design of the exterior light-up. We specified the color tones and the installation locations required to accentuate the architectural design and create an impression that had an international level of chic. Then we left the rest to the onsite construction team. Later, I was told by the Djiboutian ambassador to France, “We have built a wonderful hotel in Djibouti with a very pretty light-up. You should come pay a visit.” On hearing this, I thought to myself, “Yes, we did it!”
