In autumn of 2006, Herzog & de Meuron invited me to collaborate with on this big project. I travelled to Basel, Switzerland, where the discussions for the grandiose plan to realize a renewal from a Spanish traditional pilgrimage town was thrashed out. The project consisted of creating residential areas, parks, business zones etc. along the main boulevard in the town. A visit to the site was made, and a master plan was prepared. But then, the country was hit by the economic crisis. The plan was interrupted half way through 2007. After the plan recommenced, the street lights designed by the architects and the plan to color the night sky was realized.
