VIDEO PROJECTION
« LIFE WINDOW »
YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN CANAL PARK STATION

In this April, the large cable car in this port city, neighboring Tokyo opened.  At its two stations, colorful light accents were placed by Motoko Ishii Lighting Design. Inside Canal Park Station, passengers can travel even further through the windows of video projections imagined and created by I.C.O.N. : "Light Window, the journey of light, water and life". This video artwork symbolizes the openness of this city, historically one of the first opened to foreigners during the modernization of the country.

In the station, a turquoise highlight and the 3-minute video alternate. In order to occupy the entire space, but to minimize the devices and to ensure good visibility of the image, 5 mini video projectors diffusing the 5 windows make up the installation. Many movies and light effects further enhance this sound and light journey (sparkle, eclats, etc.)

The discovery is composed with 4 chapters, through 4 different types of windows. You ascend from the seabed to the surface enjoying aquatic creatures through the windows of a submarine, then navigate in the sunset to gaze at the city through ship portholes. You gain height in a plane. Through its windows the overview on the city slides and then you go across the clouds and the storm. Finally the vision discovers the space from a spaceship.
