TORAYA AKASAKA

The Toraya Akasaka shop re-opened on Oct 2018, longly expected by the fans after several years of reconstruction works.
The famous Japanese imperial confectioner chose to entrust Akari-Lisa Ishii again to create outdoor lighting of this new iconic venue.

The original form of Hiroshi Naito's architecture, in the middle of Tokyo's Akasaka district, was the source of inspiration. Thus the lighting of this remarkable roof was thought carefully. A cold white light was chosen as it’s most suitable for magnifying the tiles in dark gray titanium.
Thanks to the collaboration with the architect, the devices are totally invisible. The level of illumination was perfected with several test sessions to highlight elegantly the presence of the shop even at night.
