LIGHTING EVENT COMMEMORATING JAPAN-CHINA FRIENDSHIP YEAR 2012 CREATION OF LIGHT AND SOUND "ETERNAL TIME-SPACE AND FRIENDSHIP FOR THE FUTURE", BEIJING

A lighting event was planned to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the normalization of Japan-China relations. We proposed a spectacle of light and sound in southern Beijing using Yongdinmen Gate, which was constructed in the Ming dynasty, as the stage. Original video art that used calligraphy written by children of both countries, and sound arranged from folk musics was created. Although the project proceeded as far as this, social tensions arose and it became impossible to realize. Instead, the content was projected inside the hall of the Japanese Embassy in China. I hope for someday when a Japan-China-diplomatic light event free of ill-feelings can be held in Beijing.
