Recently, there have been various festivals of lights organized around the world, but Lyon remains unquestionably the premier event. Lyon co-hosted the Dubai Festival of Lights in 2014, lending Dubai the “Best 30” from among the collection of past works.
And so this is why our 2007 work was produced in front of the world’s highest skyscraper Burj Khalifa. Dubai actually has its origins as a fishing village. Therefore, shining light on that memory many have forgotten, the installation received much praise. It had travelled from zero-degree Lyon to thirty-degree Dubai. Having the installation re-exhibited after seven years was deeply moving for me.
