EXHIBITION "TRÉSORS MÉDIÉVAUX DU VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM: QUAND LES ANGLAIS PARLAIENT FRANÇAIS"

This joint exhibition was built around the exceptional loan of medieval treasures from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the collection of the royal family of Qatar, the Al Thani Collection, in the Hôtel de la Marine (overlooking the Place de la Concorde in Paris). The result of a relationship of trust established following several previous exhibitions, the museum gives us this mission where this lighting scheme had to highlight each of these extremely fragile works of art. Each display case and in the rooms had to be harmonized though illuminating each work very different from one to another. The most light-sensitive objects also had to be moderately lit. It was a fascinating assignment, because the curator allowed us to learn a great deal about the origins of each work, as well as their historical links, for example in terms of their uses, through private art history lessons. The excellence of the lighting was emphasized in a speech given on the evening of the opening. It is still rare for lighting for this kind of event to receive so much attention, so we were both surprised and honoured.
