After our participation in the 2023 exhibition with the same scenographer (pp. XX–YY - Christian Dior, 2023 Project), the museum renewed its trust in us by inviting us to work on the following year’s exhibition. Because the house where the designer was born has been transformed into a museum, its ceiling height is lower than in an ordinary exhibition space, and outside light shines through the windows in certain places. On our advice, to overcome the many constraints associated with its infrastructure, the museum began to modernise its equipment, in particular by replacing certain obsolete lighting fixtures so as to improve energy efficiency, give a more elegant appearance, and optimise the adjustment process. It was a difficult balance between the enhancement of the works themselves (which could only be lit at low levels) and the lighting effects of the scenography, which integrated backlighting behind a veil, panels, and other elements. The elegance of the unique and varied silhouettes against a black background, as only Dior (and his little black dresses) could do, and the juxtaposition of old and contemporary works deserved to be highlighted. This was made possible thanks to techniques developed over many years to harmonise the overall image, create a captivating atmosphere and light, and ensure that the display was easily understood.
