"LIGHT ESSENTIALS", OFFICIAL EXHIBITION, MAISON&OBJET FAIR

“Maison & Objet,” also recognized as the Paris Collection of Interior design is a trade fair for world-leading interior and lifestyle held twice a year in Paris. It has expanded to three locations worldwide, and it attracts a high level of attention. When we had the opportunity to get introduced to the event organizers, I was asked of my opinion as a lighting designer. I answered without hesitation: “For people attending this exhibition, light is merely the color and shape of a lamp shade. However, in reality light appeals much more to the emotions and is an essential element in the creation of atmosphere.”

We were then invited as designers to present a themed exhibit that expresses this message. We exhibited frontline technologies of Japan that are still unknown in the global interior industries under seven themes. By utilizing energy-saving lighting objects, light-integrated furniture, color shadow installations, the world’s first interactive chandelier, and next-generation-light-source OLED, we expressed a “Journey of Experiencing Lights.” We also became proactively involved in collaborations with different fields such as the smell and taste related industries for the complementary theme of stimulating the five senses. We drew the attention of visitors, and in addition to being interviewed on a nationwide news network in France, we also aroused interest in media of various countries.
